Micro-Mod Sideboard

Micro-Mod Sideboard Micro-Mod Sideboard

Description: Based upon the idea that it encapsulates my perception of the Modernism movement and more particularly the Bauhaus School; ‘Micro-Mod’ is essentially my own micro version of Modernism.

My inspiration for this piece was mainly Modernist architecture and the strong geometric shapes on which they are based. I wanted the central storage area of the sideboard to look like it was floating inside the surround, but also to create a sense of balance. I hold the principles of contrast, balance and proportion very closely when designing pieces and I think they work well here.

Materials: Elm, Elm veneer, Bog Oak veneer and Latvian Birch Plywood with ‘Blum’ 100° hinges (complete with boss and arm caps)
