Micro-Mod Lamp
Friday, June 2nd, 2006Description: Based upon the idea that it encapsulates my perception of the Modernism movement and more particularly the Bauhaus School; ‘Micro-Mod’ is essentially my own micro version of Modernism.
The lamp is based on designs that I came up with whilst working on the Micro-Mod Sideboard and is designed to work both in unison with the Micro-Mod Sideboard and on it’s own in order to compliment or complete a room.
Materials: Zebrano veneer and Latvian Birch Plywood with dual white cold-cathode tubes and obscured glass.
Micro-Mod Sideboard
Monday, May 22nd, 2006Description: Based upon the idea that it encapsulates my perception of the Modernism movement and more particularly the Bauhaus School; ‘Micro-Mod’ is essentially my own micro version of Modernism.
My inspiration for this piece was mainly Modernist architecture and the strong geometric shapes on which they are based. I wanted the central storage area of the sideboard to look like it was floating inside the surround, but also to create a sense of balance. I hold the principles of contrast, balance and proportion very closely when designing pieces and I think they work well here.
Materials: Elm, Elm veneer, Bog Oak veneer and Latvian Birch Plywood with ‘Blum’ 100° hinges (complete with boss and arm caps)

Sunday, June 1st, 2003Conical Teapot
Saturday, June 1st, 2002Description: This has been described as the “Mad-Professor Teapot”. It was one of my very first ceramic pieces and is also probably my favourite. I like the fact that I was able to mix the brown-speckle glaze with the Brass and Steel of the handle.
Materials: Porcelain with speckle glaze, galvanised Steel wire rope, Tiger-tail jewellery wire, Brass couplings, nuts, bolts and washers.
